Macedon, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.054 grams), Pella mint, issued c.275-270 or later B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin, dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, crested helmet to left, **ALEXANDROU* to right, monogram **Q*E under throne, (cf.S.6713, Price 623, BMC 623, M.226, Mathisen "Antigonus" Museum Notes No.26 (1981), Pl.xix, 17). Good very fine, scarce.
