Bombay Presidency, Indian design, Ahmadabad Mint issue, in the name of Mohammad Akbar II (A.H.1221-1253, A.D. 1806-1837), copper paisas, various dates, A.H. 1232, Regnal Year 10 (2); A.H. 1234, Regnal Year 13 (2); A.H. 1235, Regnal Year 1[4]; A.H.1236, another date off flan, last two without Regnal years, (Pr. -; KM. (SAC) 688; Master, JASB XXII, Nos. 47a, 49b, 53c, 53d, 53e). Very fine and all rare. (7)

The mint at Ahmadabad was acquired by the British in A.D. 1818 (A.H.1233) and finally closed in 1835. The coinage is not described in Pridmore and only in (Krause) Bruce - South Asian Coins (p.280). These are similar pieces illustrated but incorrectly dated. The dated series runs from 1817-1821 generally fall within the EIC control period.
