Bengal Presidency, Murshidabad Mint, 1793 Second Milled issue, Perpetual 19 san sicca series, Copy of Standard Gold Currency, in the name of Shah Alam II (A.H.1173-1221, A.D.1759-1806), Gold mohur, (12.39 grams), Regnal Year 19 (fixed), with Privy mark for Murshidabad and with oblique milling to right, (Pr. 401, cf.KM. 103). Extremely fine with large broad flan, scarce.
Ex. F. Pridmore Collection (lot 700 part) with his ticket, (acquired by Pridmore Dec. 18, 1972), and Spink Australia Sale 17 (lot 1840 part). $$ A finer specimen than the illustrated example in Pridmore's book. The characteristic feature is the use of the enlarged private dot marking in the top line of the obverse which differs from the official issue.
