Bengal Presidency, Farrukhabad Mint Coinage, First period, 1806-1819, silver rupee and quarter rupee, issued in the name of Shah Alam II (A.H. 1173-1221, A.D. 1759-1806), issued with frozen Regnal Year 45, with privy marks for Farrukhabad, edges grained to right, (Pr.314, 316, KM.66, 69). First nearly extremely fine, with blue and gold tone, second very fine. (2)
Ex. Glendining's Sept. 5, 1979 (lot 196 part) for second coin. $$ The erection of a mint at Farrukhabad for coining a silver rupee denominated the 'Lucknow sikka of the 45th san' was authorized by regulation XLV of 1803 (45 year of Shah Alam's reign). The coin was declared legal tender in the ceded provinces and the first issues from the new mint were made in 1806.
