Dutch India, Negapatam mint, Indian Style Coinage, Hindu System, Gold pagoda, late version, c.1747-1781, Struck at Negapatam mint under Dutch control, (3.42 grams), obv. single standing deity, (Vishnu), on either side bent flaps, five dots above on each side, U U on both sides, waves below, rev. convex and granulated, (Scholten 1229b [p.139, Plate XV]). Nearly extremely fine, rare.

Ex. Glendining's London, July 16, 1976 (lot 79 part). $$ As in previous lot, a similar piece with a different style of the single standing deity on the obverse but issued after 1747 with a lower fineness of 0.800 which was of similar fineness as the star pagoda of Madras and the pagoda of the Nawab. A further reduction took place in 1767 to a new fineness 0.769.
