Commodus, (A.D. 177-192), AE dupondius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 181, (9.82 grams), obv. radiate head of Commodus to right, around traces of M COMMODVS ANTON AVG PIVS, rev. around LIBERTAS AVG P M TR P VI IMP IIII COS III P P, S C across field, Libertas standing to left, holding pileus and sceptre, (S.5840, RIC 315, C.336). Short on flan, delightful apple green patina, portrait extremely fine, otherwise very fine and rare.
