Peloponnesos, Sikyonia, Sikyon, AE 19, copper trichalkoi, 1st century first quarter B.C. (Warren) downdated by LHS 90's-60's B.C., 3.45 grams,Obv. Head of Apollo, laureate to r. hair hanging in locks down neck. Rev. Dove flying left, or alighting to left, holding in beak a knotted fillet, in field to r. **S*I, above to l. and around AINEA**S*, (S.2784, BCD 335.1 [LHS Sale p.100]), BMC 234-5, McClean 6312 [Pl.220,14], S.2784, ,SNG Cop. 121, Warren Group XII, type 1, [p.18 Num. Chron.1984]). Dark brown earthern patina, very Scarce.

Ex Spink Auctions, London, Sale 60, October 7, 1987 (lot 67 part). A specimen in M&M 76, 19/9/91, lot 365, in VF, realised 440 + 15% SFr. The BCD example LHS 352 for this magistrate realised 325 + 15% SFr. The dove on the reverse was probably the animal of Aphrodite, whose worship was important at Sikyon.
