Japan, Mon coinage large size with various mint marks, 1637-1656 (KM.C.1.1 [8 varieties different sizes], 1668-1740 Edo mint [Tokyo] (KM.C.1.2 [5]), 1714 and 1717 Sado mint (KM.C.1.3 [3]); 1728 Sendai (KM.C1.4) (rare), 1737 Koume Mura mint (KM.C.1.6 [3]), 1741 Osaka mint (KM.C.1.8 [3]), 1741 Ashio mint (KM.C.1.9 [3]), 1740 Iche-no-se mint (KM.C.1.10 [2]) (rare), strokes or dot on reverse type [cf.KM.C1.- [4]); 1767 Nagasaki mint (KM.C.1.11 [3]); iron mon with Sendai mint on reverse (KM.C.1.12 [2] another with 1740 Ichi-no-se (KM.C.1.10a); others mostly plain but smaller probably local copies in brass (14, a study group); four mon issues 1769-1860 (4) (KM.4.2); copper 100 mon (2) issued 1835-1870 (KM.7); Provincial Coinage, Sendai, Mon, square holed iron coinage (3) (KM.60). Fair - extremely fine, a good range of mints and types. (63)

Ex Colin E. Pitchfork Collection and previously all from the E. Wodak Collection (Geoff K. Gray Sale February 26, 1971 [lot 712]) and obtained on cards (removed) from a German Collection of early 20th century.
