West Africa, Nigeria, Macgregor Laird, 1/8th penny or 1/400th dollar, 1858, farthing size token in copper (21 mm), with smoke emitting from funnel, 8 of 1/8 over first N of penny (die III) (Vice FT.9). Some uneven dark areas, otherwise attractive very fine or better and rare.
Ex W.J. Noble Collection, Noble Numismatics Sale 61 (lot 1682) and previously purchased from Spink in 1987.
