Sicily, Syracuse, under early Tyrannies, (circa 500-485 B.C.), silver Tetradrachm, (17.17 grams), obv. SVRA above with charioteer driving slow quadriga to right, holding reins in both hands, rev. Head of Arethusa left in incuse circle in center of quadripartite incuse square, (S.735, Boehringer series II, cf.23E (dies V-;R/13); cf.SNG ANS 4; cf.SNG Lloyd 1277; cf.Basel 423 (same rev. die); cf.Trait‚ I 2248). Very fine and very rare.
