Group of Four: Distinguished Conduct Medal (GVR); 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 2750 Pte H.F.Meaker 3 / Aust Inf Bn on first, 2750 Pte H.F.Meaker 18 / Bn A.I.F. on second, third and fourth. Extremely fine.

Private Herbert Francis Meaker. Enl.28Jul1915. Embarked for England 27Jun1916. R.T.A. 6May1919. DCM L.G. 10 Jan 1917: For great pluck and determination in an attack on the enemy's trenches in the Flers Sector on the night of 4/5th November 1916. Private Meaker bombed along the enemy's trench and killed six Germans. He was also wounded but refused to leave his party till next morning after the withdrawal. He showed great bravery and skill in handling grenades and throughout the action was cool and resourceful. With research, dog-tags engraved '2750 H F Meaker 18 Batt A.I.F. R.C.', Rising Sun hat-badge, communion medal, Great Britain red-ensign (merchant) flag.
