KPM.: 'At 11.15am on 15th March 1932, the Inspector, together with three other police officers, were keeping observation in a police 'Flying Squad' car, on three men in another motor car. The men were seen to draw up near an unattended motor car containing leather goods, and then one of the men got into the vehicle, and drove quickly away. The police gave chase, and eventually the police car was pulled across the road forcing the other cars to stop. Inspector Cain jumped on the running board, but was knocked to the ground. As the car accelerated away, he agina jumped on the car, and after a fierce struggle forced the driver to stop, and all three suspects were arrested'.
