L. Farsuleius Mensor, (c.75 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, (3.930 grams), obv. Liberty diademed and draped bust to right, S C and cap of Liberty behind, MENSOR before, XLVII behind, rev. Roma in biga to right assisting togate figure to mount, scorpion below, [L. FARSVLE in exergue, (S.328 [Å“80 VF], Cr.392/1a, Syd.789a, RSC Farsuleia 1). Very fine and rare.
This type may allude to the lex Julia (B.C.90) by which the right of citizenship was granted to all Italians.
