R.G.T. & S.(R.G.Turnley & Son) Melbourne, barbers checks for threepence, fourpence, sixpence, ninepence, one shilling, one and sixpence, one and ninepence, two shillings, two and sixpence, four shillings and sixpence, in brass (27mm) including one shilling and sixpence with Chinese countermark, milled edges. Very good - extremely fine. (22)

R.G.Turnley & Son, 264-266 Flinders Street, Melbourne, importers and manufacturers of hairdressing and toiletry lines, established as a family business in 1909. In 1985 the company was renamed Turnley (Aust) Pty Ltd and today is being managed by the 4th & 5th generations of Turnleys at 9 Gertrude St, Fitzroy where they also have a showroom and warehouse. The only surviving early catalogue, dated 1929, did not include barbers checks.
