Sicily, Syracuse, (c.485-479 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.850 grams), obv. slow quadriga driven to right by male charioteer, Nike flying right crowning horses, rev. **SU*R**AKOSI ON around to right, head of Artemis-Arethusa to right, diadem of beads, four dolphins around, (cf.S.914, Boehringer 274 same dies [obverse 126/reverse 190 dies], SNG ANS -). Minor surface porosity, otherwise good fine and rare.
Ex Dr. Colin Burnside Collection, and previously from Noble Numismatics Sale 64 (lot 2193). Boehringer notes only 6 specimens from these dies.
