GEORGE III, Resolution and Adventue Medal 1772, in platina (brass) (44mm) struck from the first reverse die with die break, by B.F. (on truncation) (Matthew Boulton) (M.H.373; BHM 165). With original ring suspension intact, uneven original brass patina, reverse rim bruise at 3.30 otherwise nearly extremely fine and rare, one of the finest known examples of the medals distributed by Captain James Cook.
