Constantine VI and Irene, (780-797), silver milliaresion, Constantinople mint, issued 780-797, (2.230 grams), obv. five lines of legend, within a triple circle of dots, CONS/ TANTINO/ SS IRINIE/ COEU BA/ SILIS, rev. cross potent on base with three steps, around IhUS XRIS TUS NICA, (S.1595 [£150 EF], BMC 4, DOW 4a); together with Nicephorus I, (802-811) with Stauracius (from 803), AE follis, (1.994 grams), Syracuse mint, issued 803-811, obv. facing bust of Nicephorus I, wearing crown and loros, rev. facing bust of Stauracius wearing chlamys and crown, (S.1612, DOC 10, BMC 13-4). First coin with slightly irregular shaped flan, otherwise nearly extremely fine and scarce; second with green patina and very fine. (2)
