Caria, Carian Islands, Kos (Cos), (370-350 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (15.032 grams), obv. head of bearded Herakles to left, clad in lion's skin, rev. crab with **[K]WI[ON]* above, club below and magistrate's name **ALKIMACOS* below, framed by dotted square, (cf.S.4985, BMC 12, [p.195, Pl.xxx, 7], Meadows [Coin Hoards IX, Pixodarus Hoard], Phase 2 No.28c [This Coin, p.231, Pl.37]). Good very fine and rare.
Ex Classical Numisdmatic Group, Auction Sale 55, September 13, 2000 (lot 576) and from the Pixodarus Hoard.
