Germany, Buchenwold Concentration Camp, fifty pfennig Wertmarke note Number 4941, Type I, variety with overstamp in red, (Campbell No. 3947c); another of two marks, similar but Type 2, M with slanted legs, number 30967, (Campbell No.3953). Both fair with tears and corners missing etc. (2)

Ex Sydney Levine Collection. The Wertmarke notes were issued as a reward for good behaviour, diligent work or the completion of special projects. It was used for purchase of 'luxury items' such as cigarettes, extra portions of food or special services.
