Group of Four: Military Medal (GVR); 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 3089 Pte G.Heath 53 Aust Inf Bn on first medal, 815 ---- on second medal, 3089 Pte ---- on third medal, 3089 Pte G.Hoath 17Bn A.I.F. on fourth medal. Name has been almost removed on first three medals possibly by the recipient due to incorrect spelling of name, last medal impressed. Pair: British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 4438 Pte J.R.Hoath 19 Bn A.I.F. Both medals impressed. Very fine.

3089 George Hoath. Enl.08Sep1915 R.T.A.21Dec1917. MM. L.G.: 22Jan1917. 'During operations in the Somme area on the 1st November 1916 Pte Heath displayed conspicuous bravery. He being a Company runner was sent with a message and was wounded by shrapnel breaking both arms. Before going to the Dressing Station he reported back to the sender of the message that it had been delivered. His bravery calls for special recognition'. 4438 James Raymond Hoath.
