MM: LG. 18Jul1917. Recommendation for immediate award of MM by Major-General G.Feilding commanding Guards Division dated 5th June 1917 - 13444 Sergeant Edward Jones 'C' Battery, 74th Brigade R.F.A. - 'Near Wulverghem on May 30th 1917, during heavy shelling a dugout in the next battery belonging to another unit was blown in, killing or wounding all the occupants. This NCO left his own dugout and ran across the open, despite heavy shelling and was instrumental in extricating the wounded and getting them to a place of saftey. But for his promptitude and initiative there is little doubt that these wounded men would have died as they were buried under the to notice for the fine example set by him when his battery was heavily shelled.'
