Trio: Egypt Medal 1882-89 - bar - The Nile 1884-85; India General Service Medal 1854 - bar - Burma 1889-92; Khedives Star 1884-86. 1668 Corp J.Westcott 2/Do Corn:LI on first medal, 1668 Sergt J.Westcott D.C. L.Infy on second medal. First and second medals engraved, third medal unnamed. Very good.

Cpl James Westcott. Born in the Parish of Hillfarrance, Taunton, Somerset, enlisted with the 35th Brigade at Bodmin 05Feb1881 aged 18yrs 2mths. He transferred to D.C.L.I. as Pte 01Oct1881, appointed L/Cpl 12Apr1883, Cpl 18Jul1884, L/Sgt 05Feb1885 and Sgt 02Jul1885. Extended service to complete 12yrs 14Apr1887. Discharged from 2nd Vol Bn DCLI 30Sep1902 after serving 20yrs 6mths, at Bodmin as C/Sgt having been found medically unfit for further service, his conduct exemplary. Intended place of residence Newquay. Overseas service included Gibraltar 01Oct1881 to 07Aug1882, Egypt 01Dec1882 to 16Jun1886, India 08Feb1888 to 07Oct1893. Campaign service Nile Expedition 1884-85 and Wantho Field Force Expedition 1891 (Mounted Infantry). Together with photocopy of Attestation and Discharge papers which confirm medal entitlement for group and also LSGC medal issued July 1899.
