Syria, Kingdom of, Seleucus I, (312-280 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.978 grams), Seleucia in Pieria mint, Newell dates 300-290 B.C., SC dates 300 B.C or shortly after, obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, Nike with wreath in outstretched hand, monogram within circle to left and below throne KP, to right **SELEUKO[U]*, in exergue **[BA]SILEW[S], (cf.S.6829, SC 29.1b, Newell WSM 890 [obv.A3], SNG Israel I (Spaer) 33, SNG Cop. 32). Very fine and very scarce.

Newell knew of 9 examples of this type from all dies.
