Thrace, Maroneia, (after 148 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.556 grams), obv. head of young Dionysos to right, wreathed with ivy and band across forehead, rev. Dionysos naked standing to left, holding grapeslion and two narthex wands, to right **DIONUSIOU*, to left **SWTHROS, below **MARWNITWN, PLOU* monogram to left, **Q* to right with cental dot, (cf.S.1635, cf.Schonert-Geiss 1099-1107 [obv. 38 rev. -], cf.ACNAC Dewing 1295 [same obverse die], cf. BMC 59). Good metal, light scratches in obverse field, otherwise extremely fine and rare.
