Sicily, Syracuse, (c.450-439 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.618 grams), obv. slow quadriga driven to right by male charioteer, Nike flying right crowning the charioteer, rev. **SUP A K OSI O N around to right, head of Artemis-Arethusa to right, hair in sakkos, wearing hook and pendant ear-ring and necklace, four dolphins around, (cf.S.933 [£1000], Boehringer 706 variant [cf.obv.346/rev.480 same reverse die], Pozzi 595 [same reverse die]). Attractive evenly toned, very fine and a very rare combination of dies, previously unpublished.

Ex Noble Numismatics Sale 64 (lot 2194). Boehringer does not have this obverse die but the reverse die noted in combination with other dies for several examples.
