Italy, Lucania, Velia, (c.350/340-320/310 B.C.), silver nomos, stater or didrachm, (7.288 grams), Period VI, Kleudoros workshop, obv. head of Athena to left, wearing crested Phrygian helmet, ornamented with female centaur, rev. lion standing to left devouring meat, **F* below, in exergue on tablet traces of **UELHTWN*, (cf.S.454, Williams 328 [same dies, dies of obv.174, rev.244], SNG ANS 1337 [same dies], BMC 84 [same dies]). Good fine, good metal and a scarce mint.
