Italy, Campania, Nola, (c.400-390 B.C.), silver stater or nomos, (7.136 grams), obv. female nymph head with diadem to right, rev. man-headed bull walking to right, above Nike flying to right, traces of **NWIALWN*, below bull reversed **LE* monogram, double exergue line, (cf.S.311 [£250], Rutter 53 [obv. die 22, reverse die 34], Hunter 4 [same dies]). Nearly very fine and rare.
Seven examples are known for this die combination and six of these are at present in various Museum collections. Rutter in his 1979 definitive die study knew of only 194 examples of this mint in all the public and private collections.
