Macedon, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), gold stater, (8.460 grams), Babylon mint, issued c.325-320 B.C., obv. head of Athena to right in crested Corinthian helmet, hair plaited, rev. Nike standing to left, holding wreath in outstretched hand, HP monogram in left field and MI in right field, to left **BA SILE[WS]*, to right **ALEXAND[POU]*, (cf.S.6702; Price 3775, M.1304, BMC 3775). Has been mounted on edge, otherwise nearly very fine and a very scarce.
