Dhar, late 18th - 19th century copper paisa, Hanuman type running to right (5), (cf.Bhatt VII 3 & 10, VIII 31, 34, JAIAN Vol.3); five foliate leaves type (Bhatt 47 JAINS Vol.5); another with additional sword with two guards (Bhatt 48); another sword type with two guards and bele leaf, year 3 and 1203 (retrograde date); other (2) similar with 1203 (as retrograde date) (cf.Bhatt 8); single guard type (cf.Bhatt 2); bele leaf with trident; cross (cf.Bhatt 35 rev. different); katar and bele leaf on obverse, and Nagari letter `Ga' on reverse; another with obv. `Ga' and rev. part date 42; another with date 1842; tree obv. and flower rev. (2); three foliate leaf type and dagger (cf.Bhatt 22); five petal flower type (cf.Bhatt 53); Anand Rao III (A.H.1276-1316, A.D. 1860-1898), paisa with banners [A.H.1266], (KM.1); half paisa and paisa (2) with Hanuman, year A.H.1289 (1872-3) (KM. 5, 6); twelth anna 1887 (KM. 11); quarter anna 1887 (KM.13). Mostly very fine, many unrecorded types or variants, a most interesting lot for study. (26)
Ex Robert Senior by private treaty, a few from Stan Goron Collection with his tickets, two from Glendining's 1964. $$ The most comprehensive publication on Dhar's copper coinage is by Dr. S.K. Bhatt in the Journal of Academy of Indian Numismatics and Sigillography Vol. III (1980) pp.69-83 (Plates VII & VIII) and in Vol.V p.70 (Plates II-IV). Many of the above are variants or different types to those he lists and illustrates.
