R.N.); British War Medal 1939-45 (JX.129696 Able Smn. Frank H.T.Kimpton D.S.M. R.N.). Distinguished Service Medal only named, impressed. Very fine.

DSM: London Gazette 3 December 1940. 'For courage and resource whilst serving in HMS Viva II in a successful attack on an enemy submarine on 21 June 1940 in the Bay of Biscay.'

Together with details of the action on 21 June 1940; and copy of Admiralty press release regarding the loss of HMS Viva II, sunk by enemy aircraft off the north coast of Cornwall on 8th May 1941 which also shows the recipient as killed in action.
