Group of seven to Leading Seaman Robert Bowie, Royal Navy
Distinguished Service Medal (GVIR) and bar for second award (A/L.S. R.Bowie. D/JX. 176830); 1939-45 Star; Atlantic Star; Africa Star (North Africa 1942-43); Italy Star, British War Medal 1939-45; Jubilee Medal for the 40th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (USSR). Distinguished Service Medal named, impressed, others unnamed. Good very fine and better.
DSM: London Gazette 3 July 1945. 'For bravery, skill and determination to duty whilst serving in HMS Keats in operations against enemy submarines when U.1051 was destroyed off Cahore Point Ireland on 25 January 1945.'
DSM (bar): London Gazette 14 August 1945. 'For gallantry, resolution and skill in HMS Keats when U.285 was destroyed in the South Western approaches on 14 April 1945.'
Together with named authorisation certificate (award card) from the government of the USSR for the award of the 40th Anniversary Medal: Ministry of Defence letter forwarding the Soviet award; and newspaper clipping relating to permission to wear the Soviet award.
