Nigrinian, probably son of Carinus, (A.D. 283+), billon antoninianus, Rome mint, (3.66 grams), issued after his death probably about A.D. 283, obv. radiate head of Nigrinian to right, around DIVO NIGRINIANO, rev. eagle standing, head facing to left, around CONSECRATIO, KAA in exergue, (S.3494, RIC 472, C.2). Attractive even grey patina, nearly extremely fine and extremely rare.
Probably a son of Carinus, who is only known from the few coins struck after his death. This specimen is a more attractive specimen than that listed in sale 46 (lot 2080).
