Edward the Elder, (899-924), silver penny, two line type, West Mercia regional mint, obv. small cross in centre, around EADVVEARD REX, rev. ADEL// VLF MO in two lines, divided by three crosses and trefoil of pellets above and below, moneyer Athelwulf, (S.1087, N.649, cf.CTCE 62). Toned, very good - nearly fine and scarce.
