Group of Seven: Military Cross (GVIR); 1939-45 Star; Africa Star; Burma Star; Defence Medal 1939-45; British War Medal 1939-45; Efficiency Decoration - bar - Territorial. Capt A.N.G.Sandison The Gordon Highlanders Imphal 1945 engraved on first medal, 1955 engraved on last medal, all other medals unnamed. Very fine.
Alistair Neil George Sandison. MC. L.G.:28Jun1944. Posted to the Gordon Highlanders as Act/Lieut in 1942, and served with the Regiment in North Africa. Commissioned as Lieut in 1944, he was seconded to the Seaforth Highlanders then serving Assam, during the Japanese siege of Imphal from March to June 1944, where he was awarded the Military Cross, the citation stating that it was for 'Personal bravery and outstanding leadership, when his section was threatened to be over-run by a strong enemy force'. Promoted Captain, Sandison remained in the Territorial Army after the cessation of hostilities, he was awarded the T.D. in 1955, retiring in 1959. Together with photocopy of London Gazette.
