Group of Four: Egypt Medal 1882; Queen's South Africa Medal 1899 - four bars - Cape Colony; Rhodesia; Orange Free State; Transvaal; King's South Africa Medal 1901 - two bars - South Africa 1901; South Africa 1902; Khedives Star 1882. A.C.Genl J.K.Johnston C.& T.S. on first medal, 2204 Q.M. Sgt J.S.Kent-Johnstone N.Z.M.R. on second, 2204 Tpr. J.S.Kent-Johnston N.Zealand M.R. on third. First medal engraved, second and third medals impressed and last medal unnamed. Very fine and very rare.

Son of Colonel Kent-Johnstone of Victoria, Australia, J.S.Kent-Johnstone served in Egypt with the Commissariat Corps in Egypt in 1882. He later served in South Africa with the 12th Company 5th Contingent, New Zealand Mounted Rifles after which he transferred to the 6th Contingent as Quartermaster-Sergeant. Only 137 KSAs issued to the N.Z.M.R. With 19 photocopy pages of research, photographs, booklet `Australians with New Zealand Contingents to the Boer War 1899-1902'. A very rare group.
