Group of Five: Cabul Medal 1841-42; Sutlej Medal Moodke 1845 - two bars - Ferozeshuhur; Sobraon; Punjab Medal 1848-49 - two bars - Goojerat; Chilianwala; Crimea Medal 1854-56 - three bars - Balaklava; Inkerman; Sebastopol; Turkish Crimea Medal 1855-56 (British issue). Jones 3rd K.O.L.D. No.1125 on first medal, James Jones 3rd Lt Dragns on second, J.Jones, 3rd Lt Dragns on third, J.Jones, 4th Dragn Gds on fourth. First medal engraved, second, third and fourth medals impressed and last medal unnamed. First medal with edge bruise between 9-10 o'clock also on second medal at 3 o'clock, very good - fine.
Jones joined the 3rd Light Dragoons on 30th March 1839 aged 20 yrs and was discharged on 6th June 1863 at Dublin. He served in the British Army for 24 years 19 days during this time he spent 12 years in India with the 3rd Light Dragoons, then transferred to the 4th Heavy Dragoon Guards and went to the Crimea war where he was part of the heavy brigade charge.
