Documents and handwritten letters from or relating to, Samuel Terry, dated 1829-1863, including an Abstract of Title to land in the District of Upper Nelson called the Copenhagen Estate, owned by Terry and Conditions of Sale of properties in Windsor, Conveyances of land at Windsor part of Smallwoods, Plan of Prperty belonging to Terry in Macquarie Street, Sydney, to be sold by Auction, November 3rd 1856, letters relating to Estates where Terry was the Executor. Samuel Terry (1776-1838) arrived in New South Wales aboard the 'Earl of Cornwallis'in 1801, having been transported for a minor offence. He was placed in a stonemasons gang in Parramatta where he later opened a shop and carried on business until his sentence expired. In 1811 he obtained a licence for an inn in Sydney. Terry quickly accumulated money and property and by 1820 owned 19,000 acres of land in Sydney as well as 1450 head of cattle and 3800 sheep.
