Shiniehi Nakamura., Niko River Japan, 1954, site of the Australian Army and Navy base, ink water colour, 200mm x 300mm, framed and glazed.

The artist did the painting for Captain Stevens who in turn sent it to Australia via Captain Scrivner to give to Mr Dunsford who was Chief Naval Architect at Williamstown Dockyard. It was in appreciation for the assistance done by Dunsford when Captain Stevens ship was in for a refit. Captain Stevens was one of the eighty two personnel killed when the HMAS Voyager and HMAS Melbourne collided during the night 10 February 1964.
