Sicily, Syracuse, reign of Hieron II, (275-215 B.C.), AE 26, (14.860 grams), obv. diademed head of Hieron beardless to left, bucranium behind, rev. horseman prancing to right, holding spear couched, beneath N, in exergue of [I]EP**WNO[S]*, (S.1221, SNG ANS 936-9, SNG Cop.838, Calciati 195 [Rev.22], BMC 588). Brown patina, very fine and rare symbol.
