Group of Eight:- Distinguished Flying Cross 1943 - with bar for second award; 1939-45 Star; Aircrew Europe Star; Africa Star - North Africa 1942-43; Pacific Star; British War Medal 1939-45; Australia Service Medal; Air Efficiency Award (GVIR); F.R. Schaaf (Wing Commander Frank Ronald Schaaf, R.A.A.F.). First unnamed, last medal engraved, others impressed. Mounted as worn. Very fine.
D.F.C.-L.G.23Feb1943: This officer has taken part in many operational sorties and has destroyed three enemy aircraft in combat. During the advance in Tripoli he led the squadron with great distinction, on one occasion when attacking Castel Benito, he destroyed an enemy aircraft on the ground. Two days later Flight Lieutenant Schaaf led a formation in an attack on five Focke Wulf 190's three of which were destroyed. Bar to DFC; L.G.20June 1946. Together with: set of miniatures; two flying log books covering his career; congratulatory letter from the air board on the award of the bar to the DFC; scrapbook of photographs and maps various letters.
