Syria, Kingdom of, Antiochus I, (280-261 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (15.720 grams), Series III Group A, Seleucia on Tigris mint, issued 267-265 B.C., obv. diademed head of Antiochus I to right, rev. Apollo seated left on omphalos, holding arrow and bow, on right **BASILEWS, to left **ANTIOCOU*, to left and right monograms, (cf.S.6866, SC 379.5a, Newell ESM 159, SNG Israel (Spaer) -, BMC 10, Hunter 18). High relief, polished and worn, nearly very fine and scarce.

Ex Patrick Cooper Collection (lot 1567 part) and previously bought from Baldwins, London, June 1978. Newell notes a total of 12 tetradrachms of this type mostly in public collections.
