Description

Attica, Aegina, (525/20-500 B.C.), silver stater, (12.076 grams), obv. smoothed shell sea turtle without row of dots down dorsal spine, countermark on back of turtle, rev. small incuse square, of 'small skew' design with five sunken triangle compartments, (S.1858, Asyut Group III-IV, 'Small skew' cf.464, SNG Cop. 501, cf.Selinus hoard 99-100). Off centred reverse punch, otherwise good fine and rare.

This is the second major stage of development in the reverse punch style.
