Together with leave pass, wounded mans kit tag, pay books,Discharge Certificate, six diaries with daily entries from 1/1/1940 - 12/121945. 22.12.1940 Sidi Barrani. 'Yesterday afternoon we were shelled heavily, a rock hit my bad knee and I was evacuated to R.A.P. ...... there was a great bombing raid on a British convoy, 20 bombers and ten fighters'. 14/5/1941 'Fritz was over again this morning , he bombed around our area and we were sprinkled with debris on two occasions. A couple of chaps were hurt. A blast of one nearly blew me out of bed'. 17/5/1941 'The dive bombers came over & scored a direct hit on a tanker, there was a terrific explosion & a great wall of flame'. 18/5/1941 ' Suda Bay certainly got it today. There were eleven air raids up to 1800hrs. They hit the other tanker which was loaded with petrol'. 23/5/1941 'This morning three of those rotten Messerschmits machine gunned the A.A. positions'. 26/5/1941 'Feeling very blue, poor old Freddie got killed last night & seven others injured. Lord! Freddie gone. I can't realise it. He was one of the best. How is it that all the good blokes go'.
