PAIR: Order of Australia - member's breast badge in gilt and enamels. Military and Hospital Order of Saint Lazarus officer's breast badge in gilt and enamels. Both awards on ribbon bows as awarded to a lady. Joan Margaret Redshaw, first only named, engraved. Extremely fine. $ A.M.: Queen's Birthday 1981 'For Service to the Community' A.M. in Royal Australian Mint case of issue with miniature award, civilian brooch badge, and ribbon bar. Also awarded Queen's Jubilee Medal 1977. Together with: numerous award certificates, including Diplomas of Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Sydney University, N.S.W. Medical Practitioner's Certificate; Diploma in Child Heath R.C.S. (London); Royal Alexandra Hospital Certificate of Service; Bestowal Certificate for Order of St. Lazarus; Community and Local Government Award Certificates; letters concerning her involvement with 'Quota International'; numerous photographs of recipient including investitures in both orders; newspaper clippings; copies of entries in 'Who's Who', 'Notable Australians' 'Debretts', the World's Who's Who of Women' and 'Men and Women of Distinction'; detailed eulogy and obituary; newspaper obituaries and various lapel badges. Joan Redshaw, born in Sydney in 1921, graduated from Sydney University in 1944. A well known and widely respected doctor on the North Coast of N.S.W. she was intensely involved in community affairs and died after a short illness at Newcastle on 11 May 1994.
