Syria, Kingdom of, Antiochus I, (280-261 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.108 grams), Series II Group C, Seleucia on Tigris mint, issued 270-267 B.C., obv. diademed head of Antiochus I to right, dotted border, rev. Apollo seated left on omphalos, holding arrow and bow, on right **BASILEWS, to left **ANTIOCOU*, to left and right monograms, (cf.S.6866, SC 379.3d, Newell ESM 157, SNG Spaer 291, Hunter 16). High relief, attractive dark grey tone, Good very fine and scarce.
Ex Collection of Dr. Samuel Warshauer. Newell notes a total of 8 tetradrachms of this type mostly in public collections.
