ITALY, Calabria, Taras, (235-228 B.C.), silver stater, (6.51 grams), obv. naked youth at full gallop on horse to right, holding torch behind him, to left monogram HPAK, **D/AIMAXOCin one line, rev. Taras astride a dolphin to left, holding a kantharos and trident, to right a monogram AN**DPE, below **TAPAS, (cf.S.378, Vl.939, SNG ANS 1245 same dies). Extremely fine with some mint bloom.
