Description

Tulunids, Harun, (A.H. 283-292) (A.D. 896-905), gold dinar, Misr mint (Cairo, Egypt), A.H. 288, = A.D. 901, with additional field inscriptions including ruler's name, (A.667, M.-). As struck, good extremely fine and scarce.

The Tulunids were the first Egyptian dynasty to seek independence from the Abbasid caliph. They ruled Egypt and Syria from A.D. 868-905 with the gold being the predominant coinage and only rarely was silver and copper struck, consequently it is rarely seen.
