Description
New South Wales, five shillings or holey dollar, 1813, struck from a Charles IIII Lima (Peru) Mint silver eight reales dated 1800 (Mira/Noble 1800/1). Toned good very fine, the countermark clear and nearly extremely fine, a most attractive example and very rare in this condition.
Ex E.Wills and S.V.Hagley collections. This is one of the finest known 'Lima Mint' holey dollars and would rank in the top fifteen per cent of all known holey dollars (approx 280). It is believed Edward Wills of Sydney sold it to Syd Hagley in the 1940s.
