Macedon, kingdom of Philip III, (323-316 B.C.), silver drachm, (4.196 grams), Ecbatana mint, issued 323-317 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right with lion skin, rev. Zeus seated to left, eagle in outstretched hand, **D* in lower left field, **IW* under throne, to right **FILIPPOU, below trace of **BASILEWS, (cf.S.6751, Price P222, BMC -, M.-). Toned, scratches on the reverse, off centred, very fine, rare variety.
Lot includes a David Sear ticket for the coin (Å“13).
