World War II, Japanese Invasian Money, One Shilling, with ink inscription on top margin, (P.2b). Very fine.

This note is the subject of a paper by Dr. Percy Zerman in NAA Volume 5 (p.40-1), and was presented to the writer by a liberated Sikh prisoner in March 1944 at Buna in New Guinea. It is noted by the author that the appearnce of this note made it one of the earliest seen outside the areas under Japanese administration at that time. A photocopy of the above cited article is included with the lot.
